Grup Roig is a family company which achieved a leading position in the ornamental sector and is characterised by combining the know-how of several generations of growers with innovative expertise in order to continue improving day after day.
ORIGINS
The company originated first in the market garden and later in the cultivation of cut flowers and ornamental plants, but after a severe freeze affected all of Europe in 1985, the company was compelled to create its own nurseries in order to provide the necessary plant material. This fact was a milestone in the company’s progress since from that point it was decided to specialise in the production of cuttings. This led to the official formation of Cultius Roig, the first company of the group, so starting on a road to success and constant growth, but always working to offer the best products and service.
Every year Grup Roig sells over 25 million cuttings, of which 20 million are supplied to the Iberian Peninsula and the rest go all around Europe. 85% of the total from the nurseries is produced on the Grup Roig properties, while the remaining 15% are marketed through various representations exclusive to the country.
Due to the company’s strong growth in just a few years and in order to satisfy the production needs, in 1996 it acquired the property of Can Tortós in Palafolls and formed the company Vivers del Tordera, which works in the exportation of ornamental nursery plants.
To extend the range of products and under a strategy of diversification in 2000 Plantélite was formed, dealing with the purchase and sale of ornamental plants from the nurseries.
